Virtual personalities whose sexualities are in doubt!

Ok, first off, this post isn’t meant to offend anyone, straight or gay. It’s just that, being a gamer for some time now, I’ve come across certain characters who I’ve never been able to place in either male or female / homo or hetero categories. Here are some specimens that cause such confusion in my mind. I’m sure many of you will agree.

Things that need to change about Halo

halo3.jpgMicrosoft may gloat all they want with 8 million + sales figures, I was nowhere near the edge of my seat when I had my first run Halo 3. The game was a mere average and should have scored no more than a 7, the only standing ovation that Bungie deserved for the game was the fact they managed create a supposed war shooter that was not grey, dull dark and depressing. I was filled with nostalgia of my G.I Joe cartoons as I swept levels and levels of frightening teddy bears. A detailed thesis describing the levels where the mechanics of Halo 3 failed to operate has been done to death, I shall however take the liberty to change almost all the mechanics that were subliminally present in the game but were never implemented in the final structure. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames [Review]

mercenaries.jpgI’ve been seeing explosive trailers of this one for some time now. And when I say explosive, I mean that in the most literal sense of the word. In the sequel to the 2005 smash hit Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, we are reintroduced to our renegade heroes Mattias “the Animal” Nilson, Christopher “the Leader” Jacobs and Jennifer “the Femme Fatale” Mui and it’s up to you to salvage some bruised egos. How? By blowing up everything and everyone around you while pocketing some money for yourself on the way!

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (once again, in the most literal sense of the phrase) begins with your character thrust into the middle of some frantic activity, given the mission of rescuing a certain General who is being held captive. It’s basically just a run-of-the-mill day at the office for our modern-day assassin. For people who have never played the game before, the opening mission works as a very nice tutorial, teaching you the basics of gameplay, which is not very different from most first-person shooters out there. Conga Bugs is addictive

Filed under: Gaming News and Reportage No comment

Recently, I came across a post on Split-Screen about casual gaming and the giant market it actually is. Let’s face it, no matter how much of a hardcore gamer you might be, you’re still a product of casual gaming. It’s always step one in our path to gaming addiction. Pretty much all the classic DOS games that we used to play, be it Alley Cat or Pac-man are examples of casual gaming and we weren’t complaining when that kept us entertained for hours on end. In fact, if you think about it, titles like NFS and Fifa qualify as casual games as well, don’t they.

And people who love the free roam mode in the GTA series (which includes me), why else would you be so fond of it if you didn’t enjoy gaming for no rhyme or reason. Of course, we do play our share of MSG4 and Half Life on the side, so we fall into the hardcore gamer variety. How do you spot an exclusively casual gamer? The casual gamer is the girl in your office who spends insane hours on Facebook playing minigames because they’re so much fun (Trust me, I’m not being sarcastic… like I said, I love playing just for the sake of playing). They may have never heard of Ryu Hayabusa but will be able to appreciate the kind of graphics Ninja Gaiden 2 boasts of. Let me reiterate, Facebook games ARE freaking addictive, especially if you’re sitting around an office space with not much to do. Read the rest of this entry »
