Final Fantasy XIII PS3 “Will Easily Cross 1 Million Mark” on Release
Filed under: Gaming News and Reportage 2 ResponsesFinal Fantasy XIII is only a month away, and it’s already begun outpacing FFXII (Playstation 2) in pre-orders according to a retailer representative in Japan. Tsutaya “Game Recycle Planning” Leader Taketo Matsuo is head of operations for the retailer’s 450 stores across the nation. In his December market forecast column he stated that the game has surpassed total Final Fantasy XII pre-orders a full month before it’s release and predicted the game to easily cross the one million mark on release.
Matsuo’s list of predictions for best sellers looks something like this:
Matsuo’s predictions for December’s top 10 looks like this:
1. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
3. Zelda Spirit Tracks (DS)
4. Gundam VS Gundam Next Plus (PSP)
5. Phantasy Star Portable 2 (PSP)
6. Professor Layton and the Demon’s Flute (DS)
7. Tales of Graces (Wii)
8. Winning Eleven 2010 (PSP)
9. Winning Eleven 2010 (PS2)
10. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
Interestingly, though he stated New Super Mario Bros. Wii would top one million, it appears Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 will surpass it in terms of sales for December in Japan.

Is this really news, we all know Final Fantasy XIII will sell a crapton at release in Japan…
And PS3 sales will increase dramatically, hardly rocket science, is it?
No surprise, Final Fantasy has a cult following in Japan, it’ll blow just about any other game away. Same goes for when Gran Turismo 5 releases over there.
