Electronic Arts recently revealed the following “fun facts” about EA DICE’s Battlefield 1943. On the XBox 360, there were over 5 millions kills in the first day of play. About 29.45 years of gameplay has also been completed by the collective Live players since the game’s release.
EA posted another update on the server problems plaguing the addictive World War II FPS since it’s launch:
With servers catching up to capacity needs we were able to confirm an issue other than capacity is affecting playing with friends. We are aggressively working on this to have it fixed ASAP and agree with comments that not being able to play with friends is unacceptable making it very important to fix. It is very unlikely to be client side and needs fixing within our network infrastructure.
We are also working on the issue some have with your existing account not logging into EA Online and thinking it doesn’t exist. A possible workout will we sort out a proper fix is log into an EA game or Demo to help resort your login. It should never ask for the login if you have an EA account persona for your PSN ID or Xbox 360 Gamertag.
The company also stated that, “PS3 having less layers in it’s configuration has gone smooth and server capacity is holding for now and servers are still being added for the weekend spike.”

PS3 having less layers in it’s configuration has gone smooth and server capacity – This basically means it has WAAYY less players and so the servers can hold up, They just didnt state it like that.
…….. I doubt it’s because less people bought the game on PSN… I HIGHLY doubt that. It’s not like Xbox LIve is know for the servers kicking people * rolls eyes *
It’s true that the PS3 has less players, but it still has enough to easily find a game any time 24/7. So… no problem there. I’d take that over crappy servers any day.
@Mehdi
PS3 having less layers means network communication structure for PS3( and this game) has less overhead due to some factors.
Having less or more players does not change way the online was design. Having more players puts more stress on servers.
Honestly, there are more player on LIVE than on PSN. With that said though, psn online games no matter how many players there are run very smoothly. I know from experience with both systems. End the end it doesn’t really matter, buying my THIRD 360 in a couple of weeks.
Mehdi. Talk about putting your own spin on things. The PS3 has less overhead of resources for the servers.
@Mehdi
Nice try, but no. That’s not what they are saying. I’m sure people like you love to twist everything a developer says into “PS3 sucks,” but that’s rarely, if ever what they are actually saying.
As Robert said, the PS3 has way less network overhead, and hence, it has more stable online play. That’s the way it is, deal with it. Stop acting so threatened.
If you want to immediately jump into another console war debate, then fine. I’ll say something like this:
“Of course the 360 player-base is going to be playing the hell out of another FPS game, and probably unlock the fourth map way before PS3 owners do. You want to know why? Because PS3 owners are more then just simpleminded, FPS crazy 16 year olds. So when another FPS game comes along, PS3 owners give it a “meh” and go back to playing more in-depth games.”
Mehdi,
Try learning what you’re talking about before trolling. Otherwise you end up looking like a complete tosser.
