3D Realms Working on 3 Duke Nukem iPhone Games?

Filed under: Gaming News and Reportage 6 Responses

duke_nukem_foreverThe dream of Duke Nukem Forever may be in shambles and 3D Realms harangued by the subsequent restructuring but this doesn’t seem to be stopping them development-wise. The developer is apparently working on 3 new Duke Nukem games for the Apple’s iPhone mobile platform.

A wise move? Metal Gear Touch, Hideo Kojima’s iPhone exclusive Metal Gear, flopped both critically and commercially. Mass Effect and Bioshock already have their iPhone installments in place though, so there’s no dearth of upcoming content for the platform. Does 3D Realms have enough resources to work on not 1 but 3 Duke Nukem games while Duke Nukem Forever remains in dev limbo? And no, “When it’s done” or “It’s a surprise!” are not fitting answers.

I thought 3Drealms closed down! An iPhone came is an interesting concept they don’t have to worry abt graphics so much =P

If you did a bit of research you would know that 3d Realms is not the ones developing these games. They licensed the Duke name to Deep Silver with Apogee Software co-puplishing them.

And no they did not completely close down. The did release 95% of the staff though because of funding issues.

I want to see Duke Nukem Forever come out like the rest of us but I wish these websites would stop posting garbage. That’s how more rumors get started.

Apogee is helping with the Duke Nukem Trilogy coming to the PSP and Nintendo DS. No announcements of these titles or three new ones coming to iPhone.

I tried to run this through the contact form, but it is not working. Some exclusive game play footage for Duke Nukem Forever is showing in the latest episode of the Jace Hall show, a web series from Crackle.com. As you all seem interested in the franchise, and the situation at 3D Realms, perhaps it will be of interest to you.

Thanks, here is the link if you want to check it out:

Thanks for the tip, Chad. Always look forward to helpful info on Duke Nukem Forever. :)

A lot of the gameplay footage has been coming out because the developers all lost their jobs and they are now using this as part of their portfolio for when they are applying for new jobs.
