Dead Rising 2′s Dual Chain-Saw Copied from Gears 2

Filed under: Gaming News and Reportage One Response

gears_of_war_skorge_chainsaw_staffAfter looking at Dead Rising 2′s gameplay, I noticed Chuck (the new protagonist) wielding a dual chainsaw staff. Sounds incredibly cool and it looked amazing when strapped onto a motorcycle for some true mass-scale zombie murder. However, as interesting as the concept was, it’s not original. Not by a long shot. Because Gears of War 2′s boss character Skorge wields the exact same weapon – only his appears a more refined staff-like version of dual chainsaws rather than what’s simply two chain-saws joined together with a pole.

So what? There are so many different types of weapons that are usable in this game. What’s the big deal that one of them is taken from another game? The first one had regular chainsaws and axes. It’s not like no other game has ever used those.
