Militants burn video game store.

The Taliban have conducted what appears to be a campaign of cultural terrorism in Pakistan, claiming a video game store as casualty. Yesterday, Islamist militants swept through the main market in Mingora, the capital of the Swat Valley region of Pakistan, burning down shops selling videos and electronic goods. A store selling video games was among the casualties of the raid. Furniture and goods worth thousands of rupees were destroyed, according to local police. The once-tranquil Swat Valley has become a battleground in the conflict between the Taliban and the Pakistan army.

No, this does not translate into a jihad against video games, or anything of that sort, but rather a generally bad situation. It’s easy to sensationalize the news and make it about the games, because hell, that’s funny if nothing else, but someone out there will take it seriously, and that’s the last thing anyone with any sanity should want.
