Gamer scammed with PS3 MGS bundle

Filed under: Gaming News and Reportage 2 Responses

An awful lot of Metal Gear Solid 4 copies and bundles have been moving around, since the game’s release, but a certain gamer seems to have been swindled at the expense of corporate greed.

Jason MCG talks of this sordid tale of greed and deception:

After much deliberation, I convinced my buddy to get a PS3; didn’t take much as he was planning on getting one anyway. Good for him.Anyway, he gets home, opens the box and, to his surprise, the 80GB PS3 isn’t an 80GB at all… it’s an old, launch 20GB !!! To add insult to injury, the DS3 controller was missing as well. On further inspection, he noticed that the serial numbers from the box and the system didn’t match (obviously). In fact, the serial number on the machine looked to be tampered with as most of it was torn off.

Obviously, somebody swapped it and returned it. He bought it from WalMart and the higher-ups basically told him they couldn’t do anything since the serials didn’t match. Now, he’s out close to $600. He’s a really good guy and wouldn’t do something like this, and by “this”, I mean stealing it for himself and trying to take WalMart on the swindle. (Source)

Ouch! This seems to be a serious case of getting ripped off in a rather pathetic manner in Hornswoggle-land.
