Sensitivity
No I am not talking about your emotional outbursts after loosing a match. Your Mouse Sensitivity, This relates to how fast your crosshair movies directly related to the mouse movement. Get your sensitivity just right and you will find a great increase in your game level. Practice with bots and move your sensitivity up and down by notches of .2 every 5-6 rounds and see which sensitivity suits you. To set your sensitivity open console and type sensitivity 3.42 or any other digit.
How do you know your sensitivity is causing problems in your game? Well are you finding it hard to dodge flashes? Is it tough to move your crosshair from one enemy to another? Are you overshooting your enemy targets?
All these are problems with one’s sensitivity. For the first 3 questions it is obvious that your sensitivity is too low. For the last question the sensitivity is too high. So adjust accordingly.
Constant QQ
One of my teammates has this problem and no matter how much one yells at him he still does it. Its kind of an addiction pressing Q and then Q again switches between two weapons basically q is associated with previous weapon. This has a lot of use incase you are spraying down a couple of enemies and a third pops out just when you run out of bullets you can switch to secondary with q and shoot him with your pistol. Also helps to change to knife to enable you to run faster.
So what is the addiction? Well pressing it constantly keeps you in a state of switch all the time and an enemy can come in front of you and shoot you before you know what happened. Also pressing Q with the knife as your previous weapon causes a sound which means an opponent nearby can hear you and know your exact position.
Backup
There are two elements to the term Backup. Firstly giving backup. Don’t be a chicken and don’t bait you teammates. It’s the worst thing to do. If you see your teammate engaging go and help him. In all likeliness your opponents will be distracted by him and you can sneak up and clean them up and save him at the same time.
Second is waiting for backup. So you just killed an enemy and… wow! He had the C4 and it has dropped. Well now you should wait for you teammates to come and then hunt as a horde. Being greedy can only lead to one thing. Your death and it could cost you the match. One of most experienced CS players in the country told me this after an early Kode 5 exit for my team. “Why are you being so greedy for frags? Go get one kill, come back wait for teammates and go again, you will get another kill.” And it’s true. It always helps to be patient in CS.
RADAR & SOUND
Yes you know what I am coming to don’t you? Why did you kill your teammate in the last map? I just can’t stretch on the importance of Radar. It tells you practically every position of your teammate. And sounds from somewhere else can mean only one thing — it’s an enemy. Just have a look at your radar before you blindly spray down somebody over the corner.
Stop running so much around the map. Opponents have good headphones as well — don’t forget. Especially if you are playing an experienced team. They have the same gear as you so don’t think because you have better sound a better mouse and a better mouse pad that they can’t do anything to you and you can rush and ace them each round. It’s a fundamental error. Slow down. Walk or try the overly popular Russian Walk. (Tap the Crouch button in a pattern to help you move fast with less sound commonly referred to as the crouch walk Allowed at ESWC from 2008).
Now when you hit a common spam spot and you hear the opponent bleed what do you do you spray down and kill him right just like when a shark smells blood? Well reverse the roles you get hit by a spam don’t just camp thinking “Ahh… he is just trying his luck in all probability he has heard you and you have a split second to move out so get out of there.
Help you teammates with your sound sense. Probably you’re a little more experienced or you just have a better headset nevertheless you heard your opponent running at outer. Tell your teammate exactly where he is. as I had said earlier — communication is the key in CS.
Money Management
There was the article on Gotfrag.com that really helped me understand how Money system in CS works. Most players have a vague idea of what the money system is about but not a lot of them have an in-depth knowledge allow me to share with you what exactly is the Money scenario Round by Round. Keep in mind that all these bonuses do NOT account for the additional 300 dollars you get per frag.

I hope this makes you understand what you could do in each round and how much it could affect you when you do a wrong buy or when you team kill. Read Understand and Revise.
